A Day in the Life of One Cool Cat (Really he is the only one!)

Have you ever been asked the question, are you a cat or a dog person? If you have chances are you picked dog. Cats are often associated with being fat and lazy (thanks to Garfield) which some cats are. However how do you think they came up with the term "cool cat?" There must have been at least one at some time. This is how I think they all disappeared.

         I think that the cool cat came from Antarctica. They chased as many birds as they liked (stupid penguins don't fly away). Penguins were no problem because these cats loved the water. One day all of the cool cats, except 4, were eaten by some scientists on a journey to the south pole. They took the other 4 with them and sent 2 to Africa and 2 to Asia. The cool cats quickly adapted to their environment and became the 2 coolest cats in the animal kingdom, the lion and the tiger.

    Little did the scientists know, two cool cats  were not found. They were the two most overweight and laziest cats of them all. Using their cool cat telepathy (because they were cool like that) they realized that their lost companions were on entirely different continents. The last cool cats tried to swim to Africa, but they were too fat and lazy to make it all the way. These last two made it to a small island where they were discovered and bred to be the common house cat. Cats love fish because that's all the last cool cats had to eat on their failed journey to Africa.

The problem with March Madness

To everyone who orchestrates and participates in March Madness pools,

    Pools are fun, but you can lose a lot of money with them.  To win the most money you must set up the entire tournament (your bracket) as it ends up happening. Certain strategies are vital to winning a pool like previous records and player-to-player comparisons. This is pretty easy until you factor in one thing... UPSETS. This can mess up your entire bracket. You never would have expected seen the worst team beat the best team.

    My problem with pools is that chances are your bracket will lose. Why waste money on something so pointless? I'd rather just watch my school, win bragging rights, and be on my high horse for a year. The concept of a pool is a good start here are some revisions. Why predict for the whole tournament? If you predict game by game you will only lose as much money as you bet instead of more practically every day, and you'd probably be smart enough to not bet anymore since your team is out.

    My problem with the tournament itself is that it doesn't give the lesser schools any chance. If you pt the first place team against the worst team in the tournament together in the first round it isn't hard to guess who will win. Why not put 1st and 2ND place together to make the early games just as crucial and interesting as the finals? Schools that are not great when it comes to basketball could get farther in the tournament. More people would tune in to the early games in the tournament. The current system really is counterproductive, because you lose all of the fans of the schools that are eliminated early. A double-elimination bracket would be better because the tournament would last longer and, consequently, have more crucial games which attract more viewers. This system could be implemented next year and the beneficiaries would be all college basketball fans, players, and sponsors. It would facilitate the winning of the tournament by other schools and bring them into the spotlight. I cannot see any major problems with this system, if you can please inform me!

The Opinion Of A Student

    In this blog today I will write about my opinion to pay-per view. I think that we shouldn't have to pay to watch a game or a show. For example Sunday there was a soccer game going on and I wanted to watch it on pay-per view. I had to pay 40$ to watch the game. We shouldn't have to pay this much, correction we shouldn't have to pay at all. They should really change their name from pay-per view to anything else that doesn't have the word pay in it. The game wasn't that good anyway; the team that I wanted to win lost 3-1 anyway. Which is another example. I had to pay for a game that wasn't really good. Nobody want's to waist 40$ on a game that really wasn't good. Not all shows, games, or movies are 40$ some cost more and some cost less. When it is a very important game or something the price goes up for pay-per view. Especially when it's something that is a one in a life time thing. Something that may be historical. When there's going to be something like that the price will go really high. No matter how much people want to witch it nobody want's to pay that much. But people still pay that much because it's something that is important. The people that work in pay-per view know that no matter how much they  race the price the people will pay to watch that's why they race the price's on what there giving on pay-per view. Im like other people even though people race the price this much I would still pay. This is only if it is very important. If it's not that important then I rather wait until they lower the price or until it's old enough that they give it for free.

50th B-Day Mayhem!!!

  

  My family is not great at planning events. My uncle and aunt and there family

refuse to let us hold any holiday. It's not because our parties are contemporary,

were just too disorganized. The one time we through a good party was my dad's

50th b-day party entitled Peter's 50th Bash! But you wouldn't believe what we

had to do in a week to throw the best party ever.

    First, we needed a strategy to keep my dad out of the house for the weekend.

Next, we needed guests. Who throws a party without guess? To facilitate my

mom's stress over the party, me and my brother called all our friends and family

and kept my dad out of the house. My mom had to deal with a whole other part of

the party. Food and Cake.

            You say dogs man's best friend, but not in our house hold. When my

mom got back from the hundreds of dollars of food she went to take a nap

while we were in the living room. That's when Willy attacked the food. It was

kind of Ironic how we were watching Mission Impossible 3 and we could see the

food but he still got it without making a noise. Since Will pretty much ate all of

it, my mom had to do it again. My brother and I next task was to make the

cake. My dad is very picky when it comes to cake. It can only be chocolate with

chocolate icing  surrounding it. When my mom bought the Betty Crocker cake

mix, she misconstrues the box and thought icing came with it since there was

a picture of a cake with icing on it on the front of it when it really didn't.

Unfortunately, all the icing in the store was gone. My brother and I had to

think off the top of our head so we made home mad icing. We took 20 or 30

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and melted the and mush them to make it into an

icing. Surprisingly, it was one of the best icings I ever had.

    Even if we busted our butts again and went shopping or just had a

professional plan the party, I don't think we would ever throw such good of a

party ever again.

Argument to the author of Slam Magazine

                            I just got the new spring edition of my favorite magazine called Slam, but this edition not so great. The only thing that this edition talked about was the race for Most valuable player. Since that was all they talked about the only names that you heard were Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and Kobe Bryant. This edition only gave beneficiaries to the three players not to anyone else. I think they should be talking about Dwight Howard being the youngest player to get five thousand rebounds, or the race in the east and the west conference for the last playoff spot and what it is going to take to clinch that last spot. They should also talk about what players on each team are going to help facilitate  their team to get that final spot in the east and the west conference.

                            I also think that they should of talked about what strategieswill help win the game or what kind and offense and defense the team should run. Like the Phoenix suns it is vital to them to get the ball down low in the paint to Shaquille Oneal. They have to do this because when they forty plus points in the paint they win by tenplus points, even thought this is hard to do without their star player Amare Stoudamire they have to make it happen. This team is also going to have to limit their outside jump-shots and only take open looks at the basket instead of forcing an jump-shot that is for sure not going to go in. The suns also have to enticetheir opponents out to the perimeter so they can make easy passes into the lane without the passes getting picked off by the other team.

                        Moving on to the eastern conference and the Bobcats being only two games behind the Bulls, the bulls are a team that are know to go cold for a period of time. One cold streak this close to the to the playoffs and they could be easily knocked out of the eight spot of the eastern conference. Derick Rose and Tyrus Thomas are the heart and soul of the Bulls if going to have to lead his team to clinch that eight spot in the east. 

                                        

anesthesiologist

The graphic shows that you have to be honest with yourself when your choosing your career. Some people want to be an actor or a big named superstar but the odds of that happening are real slim. I love basketball and I would love to play in the NBA but it most likely wont happen. I am not trying to say don't stop playing sports because you wont make it to the big leagues but don't get your hopes up because everyone wants to make it big but only a few make it.

Over the years I have watched my mom go off to work and  save peoples lives in the hospital on a daily basis. I thought that was amazing that she would go off to work save a patients life then return home and be a loving mother. Now as I grow up I want to be just like her, to get the rush when you save a life  or deliver a mother's first born child. I would love to get that feeling of satisfaction.

To be an anesthesiologist you must graduate high school and complete a 4 years undergraduate college. After that they must attendd medical school for 4 years before they are allowed to do residency. Residency is when you are allowed to work in a hospital helping out doctors and patients. In total to become an anesthesiologist you need about 12 years of education before you become a legalized doctor. An anesthesiologist makes an average salary of 250,000 dollars a year. That's a lot of money.

To become an anesthesiologist you need to work hard and be 110 percent committed to the job. You need to be able to work in tight conditions and also be very careful. If you are not careful something bad could happen and the consequence might be losing your license so you have to be careful. In conclusion being an anesthesiologist is a lot of hard work but in the end it will all pay off.

In Comes Baseball And Out Goes Basketball

            My basketball season is over, and finally my baseball season is just about to start. My 5 months of playing basketball was fun, but it is time for me to play the sport i realy love. I play baseball for a long time. I play for about 7 months. Thats alot of baseball. I played for New Rochelle Little League, and now I play in the league Babe Ruth. I also play and played for many travel teams like New Rochelle Pacific, New rochelle and Tigers Sports Club which is known as TSC.

           My Coaches and teamates helped me improve my skills and kept my head up when we were down. without them, I dont think I would be as good as I am today. I may have had my great games my good games and my bad games, but I have never kept my head down.

           I have won many championships with all the teams I have played with. I have also made it to the playoffs millions of times. I have come home with lots of trophys from playing baseball, either if it was from First, Second, Third or fourth. I have many big trophys, medium trophys and many small trophys.

           I have had many different jerseys over the years I have been playing baseball. I also have alot of different colored jerseys like red, purple, green, orange and black, maroon and Blue.

           I think that Babe Ruth is going to be more difficult to all the other leagues i have played with because the bat I have to use is heavier, the field is way longer and the kids i am going to be playing with are older than i am, but i also think that Babe Ruth is going to be more fun because the fields im playing on are the same lengths as what the pros use. I hope i can make a future in life with baseball.  

My Future Job !!!

                    When I get to my last year of high school I want a scholar ship to in basketball, or lacrosse. I want my scholar ship for basketball to be to Syracuse. I want my lacrosse scholar ship to be to Duke. For me to accomplish something like this it will take hardwork, dedication, education.

                    It will take Hard work to get a scholarship because you have to face off against kids that are number one in the country. To get this good it will mean you will have long days and long nights of practice if you want to compete. It also all depends on which sport I am better at when I get to my last year of high school, if it is basketball then I will have to practice different then I would for lacrosse.

                    These two sports will take dedication also because I will not be able to have really late nights going to party's and stuff at college. I will have to stay in my room and not do much but work and study. This may not sound fun but if I want to make it to the national basketball association (NBA) or professional lacrosse this is what it will take.

                    To actually get a scholar ship this will take education and good grades. Sometimes you will hear of a college superstar having bad grades and not be able to play for his team, and his team might start loosing all because of his mess up on his grades. To play college sports you  have to have a C+ to a B average just to get on the team. Also if someone got to tryout for te sport team that they wanted to be on , and they were a superstar and were sure that they were going to make the team and figured out that they were unable to play bbecause of there grades they would probably be very mad.

                     So when I grow up and get out of college I want to be a professional athlete of some sort. 

                        

Career

    In every career that people would like to do takes a lot of work to get to were you want to be. It takes a lot of practice, learning, researching to get to the career that you would like. For the job that you want you always have to do things that are fun for you. Things that you like, and nobody really wants to have a job that doesn't pay good. You want a job that you like, and a job that pays good.  For careers that involve sports, thats were the practicing comes in. Learning is involved in a lot of different careers. And so does researching.

    The career that I would like to do when I grow has to do with all the three, practice, learning, researching. I want to be a professional athelete. The sport that i would lioke to do is soccer. I really do a lot of sports, but soccer is my favorite sport. I have  researched about how well they pay for soccer and I have found out that they pay really well. I have also found out that they pay well for anybody that is a professional. My mom and dad actually thought that being a professional soccer player wasn't a career, but I new it was a career because it is a profesion and any profesion in the world could be a career. I have been playing soccer since in was very little, and everybody in my family plays it so now I have gotten very used to it and now it is my favorite sport. This is the career that i have wanted since I was little and I'm very good at it too. This is the career that I would like to do when i grow up because I have fun with it and it pays very well.

My Future Job is.....

    Ms. Hill showed all of us a venn diagram saying where I am on the left side, and where

I want to be on the other. In the middle it said Lots of Work. I believe that venn diagram

was trying to say if you want to suceed in life, there's alot of work on the way. To get

where you want to be in life, you first have to find a job you would be willing to do for 

the rest of your life.

           At first, I wasn't sure what I wanted to be. I went on http://www.bls.gov/ and

found a few jobs that fit me. I want to help people in life which is why I want to be a

surgeon. Although you have to work long hours, it's one of the highest paid jobs.

Surgeons specialize in the treatment of injury, disease, and deformity through

operations. It also takes a while to become a surgeon. You have to go through 4 years of

undegraduate school, 4 years of Medical School,and 3 to 8 years of internship and

residency. If I want to be a Surgeon, I have to be determined to go through over a

decade of becoming one.Physicians and surgeons held about 633,000 jobs in 2006;

approximately 15 percent were self-employed. You see, it's alot of hard work if I want to

be a surgeon, but if I can over come it, so can you. If you can believe, you can achieve.
