Practice Test Essay

The friendship between Jim and Antonia in the story "My Antonia"  has the same similar friendship as Gina and Soo-Hyung in the story "Once Around Manhattan"  because they both have some things that are the same and some that are not the same.

The friendship between Gina and Soo-Hyung is very normal for friendships. Because mostly all friendships have there same things in common and other things that aren't common. And thats how Gina's and Soo-Hyung friendship is. In example of that is how Gina love the Yankees and how Soo-Hyung loves the Mets. But the good thing that neither of them fight over it like real friends do. And one thing they have in common is that they both don't want to give up the challenge. So there both fighters that one thing they have in common.

Now the frinedship between Jim and Antonia is almost the same thing but the only different thing about them is that Jim's a guy and Antonia's is a girl but there friendship is the same as the friendship between Gina and Soo-Hyung. Because they also have thing that they have in common and things that they don't have in common. One example is that they both love to be outdoors then be in doors. And one example of them not having something in common is that Jim is kinda like a shy and real nice person and Antonia is like a girl who's not afraid of expressing her herself to any one and she also is a bit mean.

So the point of the friend between Gina and Soo-Hyung are the same type of friendship as Jim's and Antonia's friendship is that both have the same things in common an some things that don't have the same thing in common.

Practice Test Essay

The friendship between Jim and Antonia in My Antonia and the friendship between Gina and Soo-Hyung in "Once Around Manhattan" are both similar and different in many ways.

Jim and Antonia enjoy each others company. They are both care free and cheerful. They work together in a fun way. They love to run in the garden and Antonia loves to take off her sunbonnet and let her hair fly in the breeze. The two are very happy. Antonia likes to be outside with Jim. Jim's grandmother says it makes he like a man, but she likes to be like a man. His grandmother and he are glad to have her in the house. Jim and Antonia are inseperable.

Gina and Soo-Hyung love adventure, a challenge, and each other. They were the only girls in the Challenge Club. They are both athletic, Gina is a gymnast and Soo-Hyung is a swimmer. Gina and Soo-Hyung like to share memories with each other. They both have different opinions on something's, but they don't fight over which one has the better opinion. They respect each other and each others opinion. These two are just like sisters.

The two friendships have something's in common. They both like being with each other. They would never fight. The friends both like adventure. They like to run, climb, and swim. They also admirer nature and the scenery around them. When it is hot Jim and Antonia like to watch the horizon, watch the lightning, and listen to the thunder. Gina and Soo-Hyung like to look at the bridges, the water, and the Statue of Liberty. These two friendships love so many things and they happen to be the same things.

Jim and Antonia and Gina and Soo-Hyung have different friendships. Even though they are different they are also the same.

In these stories there were two friendships one from My Antonia (Jim and Antonia)and (Gina and soo-hyung) from  once around Manhattan. Both of these stories have somthing income they both deal with great freindship and some of the differnces that real friends have .in the story my antoina jim and antoina are always together just like gina and soo-hyung they think things diferntly but a think they are more alike then differnt for insatn in the story once around manhattan the two girls had disagreed about the base bal teams but that not make them hurt eachother and go crazy they just satied there  opines and got on with the day our like in my antonia the two boys were up in the feild and jim says that he remebered antonia being so gay and responsive . to me antoniawas more on the cheerful side he alwys liked going out n the rain and being with jim . just like in the other story the two girls had stuck togethere when it was time to go on the boat and start there trip .

"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.
Walk beside me and be my friend."

Can popular people get away more than less popular people?

Do you agree or disagree that popular people can get away more than less popular people? I disagree because the meaning of being popular is that people know who you really are inside and the way you act with others. And if your a person who's always getting in trouble and always in/starting fights at least like 10 times a week than your popular but in the bad way of being popular. You maybe saying right now what I'm talking about being popular in the bad way. But remember this; the meaning of popular is that people know who you are inside and the way you act to others. And teachers and principal are going to remember you as the bad kid who always is getting into trouble and in/starting fights. And I don't think any one wants to be remembering in there school years as the bad kid that if you hang out with, is going to get you in trouble.  I'm right, right? Yes and also not just your teachers and principals are going to remember like bad kid but also your friends and school mates are going remember and maybe in few years after no ones want to see you cause every one going to think if you that bad in school they maybe really scared of what you did with the rest life now that your done with school.

Now if your less popular than you  may have a few friends or a little more  and few of your teachers  that will remember you as a good, nice, and smart kid cause you  may never get in trouble or in and/or start fight with other people in your school. So what I'm saying is that maybe you’re less popular is because people remember you as maybe another good kid in school. So maybe in a few years people will just remember you as just another good kid and nothing else. But take this in a bad way its good thing people will remember just as a good kid cause this means that mostly every one always said like "hey there look its  (whatever your name is) lets go and hang out with him/her so we wont get trouble cause will be doing the right thing when with them." I know it sounds corny but it’s the best way I can put it.

Now I don't know any one who I can use as an example so I just made one up. Ok here it is: If two kids are in a fight in school and there called into the Dens office and the said: "Ok which one of you started the fight?'  And the one on the right said" he started it." And then the kid on the left said”No he did." Now the kid on the right is one of the most bad type of popular kids in school and the one on the left isn't one the most popular in a bad way but his teacher's think as him as another good kid in school and has never had a fight in school. Who do you think the principal going to believe?

Response to Q6 on Anticipation Guide

Economic differences between friends cause problems; people from different economic backgrounds cannot be friends.

People with different economic backgrounds are all equal. Just because someone is higher than you does not mean you can't be friends. I see people everyday, with different economic backgrounds, who are friends and don't care about their economic background. Nobody thinks about the economic differences. You, me, and everybody around us have friends that have different  economic backgrounds. Don't spend your time with the same people as you mix things up and get to know new people.

Gathering Blue.....Child Abuse and Neglection

In Kira's world children are sometimes abused and neglected. The tykes (children) are both abused and neglected because the town is poor so it is harder to get food and if you cannot provide for the town or yourself then you will be left to die. Kira is sometimes looked down on because she has a twisted leg and she is still living in this village because her mom wouldn't let the council take her to the beasts to die. And when her mom dies the only reason they let her live is because she is a fine sewer and threader.  This is abuse because she is being treated unfairly and she is teased because she has a twisted leg. Also, Kira's friend Matt is both abused and neglected; he is abused because he is whipped and beaten until he is bloody. He is whipped by his mom because he did something he didn't know he wasn't supposed to do. And in their village there are almost no rules so people do bad stuff all the time. But when you do something extremely wrong you will be left to die. And when you are disabled, to the town you are seen as worthless and no help so they take you to the field where the beasts come to eat you.

Kira and Matt, both have troubles with their family life. Kira's mom and dad died and she doesn't have any siblings and Matt has parents and siblings but they are much poorer and Matt is very mischeivious so he gets whipped often. Matt and Kira stick together when they are lonely and help each other when they need help or when they want to get away from their home.

Difference between a skill and an art (A discussion question)

The discussion question that I chose was what are  qualities that determine the difference between a skill and an art (which would be number 5). The qualities that determine the difference between a skill and an art are an artist creates there own creation and a skill is something that someone else teaches you.

Katrina (Kira's mother) was a skilled sewer and not an artist. The reason this true is because she all she did was repair the robe, but not add any thing original to the repair. Proof from the story of this fact includes when "Katrina was asked to replace a few threads that had been torn loose" (page. 41). Another one is when "each year that followed, they had brought the ancient robe again to her mother for repairs" (page 42). This met that all she did was repair the Singer's robe and not put any thing else on it.

Kira, on the other hand is true artist. The evidence that she is an artist comes when she put her own creativity on the Singer's Robe. Examples in the text where she demonstrates this artistry include the part where she surprised her mother by doing something that they no one ever had taught her to do (page 29). Another example in the text is when Jamison came to see how the Singer's Robe came out and was "obviously pleased with her work" (page 169).

Inclusion a skill is not almost the same as art. A skill means you can do something well because you have been taught to be good at it. In other words a skill maybe something to fix something that some one else's creation. And art means a creation of a beautiful thing or things that you make your own that one else has taught to you. Or in another way an art is something to be born with it.
