English Essay Morgan's

The friendship between Antonia and Jim is similar to the friendship between Soo-Hyung and Gina. In Antonia and Jim's friendship Jim kind of looks up to Antonia and finds her interesting. When Antonia climbs up on the roof, Jim is right behind her. And the two of them watch the storm together on the roof.

The friendship of Soo-Hyung and Gina is a great friendship too. They work together to paddle down

Manhattan

in a canoe. Even though many problems occur in there trip, they always work them out. They paddle really hard together in order to catch up and think of smart ideas like hitting the waves diagonally.

A reason you could call the friendships similar is because Jim is there for Antonia and they always do things together and he is always there to help her. That is similar to Soo-Hyung and Gina because Soo-Hyung and Gina try really hard and support each other in the work they do on the canoe and have faith that they will solve the problems that occur.

So as you can see the friendships do connect in a way. They are not exactly the same and there stories aren’t the same but they do relate. There all great friends to one another and never get mad at one for something they may have done.

Essay

The friendships in "My Antonia" and "Once around Manhattan" are very similar to each other. Antonia and Jim built a special friendship by being outside and in the summer heat. Gina and Soo-Hyung built their friendship by working together on a hard task. Friendships can be built in many ways... and sometimes you don't even notice it until you have a bond so tight, that all of your past and secrets just flow out.

In the story "My Antonia" Jim and Antonia spend time together outside. Jim's grandmother doesn't really like Antonia to go outside because she would feel like a man. However, Antonia loves being outside... more than being in the kitchen, where she is supposed to be. She is so happy when she is outside. She sings joyfully and is so spirited nobody can resist her, even if she isn't that diligent with her work. Jim get's along great with her because she is such a beautiful soul and shares the same interests. Just being together brings that special light of friendship.

In the story "Once Around Manhattan" Gina and Soo-Hyung develop an important and special bond between them. They have to work together to paddle around Manhattan Island and through the hard times and the easy, they didn't stop. When Gina spotted the bridge she used to play on at her grandmother's house when she was little, they stopped for 15 minutes so she could have a closer look. As she returned, she was gushing with memories of all of the spaghetti dinners and Italian culture. But when Soo-Hyung realized they were late, they paddled as hard as they could. In the end though, they made it through. "Does she have a name? The Statue of Liberty lady? Because if it weren't for her... " Gina said. "I know. I'm going to have to call her Gina, because she was my only hope back there." said Soo-Hyung. "Oh no. Her name is Soo-Hyung, steering us to solid ground." replied Gina. This just shows how much trust is really involved in friendship.

In conclusion, these two sets of friendships were both formed by being in each other's presence for a long time. They talked and talked until they knew pretty much everything about each other. The secrets, the past, and the future... all in the hands of trust.

My Essay!=]

In the story “My Antonia” the two main characters are Jim and Antonia. They are really close friends. The two friends met by Jims Grandmother who hired Antonia to work with her over the summer in the kitchen. On Jim and Antonia’s free time, they would play outside at night time. They grew really close. So close that Antonia wished that she could stay with Jim and his Grandmother.

In the story “Once around

Manhattan

”, the two main characters are Gina and Soo-Hyung. They are also close friends. They have known each other since they were young. In the story it explains how the two friends used to play on the bridge with there grandmother together. Gina and Soo-Hyung went on a field trip with there class, on a boat around

Manhattan

. They came to a bridge where they remembered the times that they played when they were younger. Gina decided to get out of the boat and look. Gina took so long that they were late and hit the high tide. The boat almost got over towered by the waves.

There are few similarities between the pairs of friends. One similarity is that they both have a big history in there friendship. They are also both really good friends and will never forget each other. Another similarity is that they both had to work together to get something done. Gina and Soo-Hyung had to work together to save there lives. If they didn’t have teamwork, the waves would have over towered them and they could have been taken away by the current. Jim and Antonia had to work together to prepare the vegetables for the kitchen.

In conclusion, Gina and Soo-Hyung grew closer to each other and will have a memory with them for the rest of there life. They will always remember that they saved each others lives. Also Jim and Antonia grew really close from being with each other for the whole summer. This will be another memory that will stay with them forever. Friendships are very important in many different ways.

"My Antonia" and "Once Around Manhattan" Essay =] [(FiNAL)]

In "My Antonia" Jim and Antonia are best friends and in "Once around Manhattan" Gina and Soo-Hyung are really good friends. They have a similar relationship. Jim and Antonia met by Jim's grandma who hired Antonia to help her in the kitchen while Jim and his grandfather worked outdoors. Gina and Soo-Hyung were best friends since they were younger. They went to each others house and they are still really good friends. They have a lot of similarities. One similarity is that the both friends do most of the stuff together like Antonia and Jim like to sit on top of the chicken-house and watch the storms and clouds that are in the sky. Gina and Soo-Hyung like to take on a lot of challenges together and also they are the only girls in the Challenge Club. Antonia is not like any of the other girls she would rather work outside in the heat then in the nice house.

In "Once around Manhattan" we can see that Gina and Soo-Hyung are close friends from just reading the story. For example "I Think that's the bridge we used to play on my grandma's house!" "Really?" asked Soo-Hyung, without missing a stroke." That shows that not only are they good friends but they have been good friends for a while. I think that they will be friends for long too. Now we know that Antonia and Jim are good friends because in the story it says that Antonia works for Jims grandparents. She hasn’t been living with them for a while because in the story it says: “she sighed “I wish my papa live to see this summer. I wish no winter ever come again.” This means that she used to live with her papa before she stayed with Jim’s grand parents.

Those are some similarities of the two friendships. There are a lot more similarities and a lot there is a lot of differences too. I believe that Gina and Soo-Hyung will be friends for even longer and I think that Antonia and Jim will work together and be best friends for as long as they can.

My Essay**=]

In the two stories, there are two very important friendships made. In “My Antonia”, Jim meets Antonia from his grandma. Antonia had to work there when her father died. In “Once Around

Jim and Antonia would have some time together in the early morning, when Jim has to get vegetables for that night’s dinner. Each morning, they would go together. One day, after there was a big storm, Antonia and Jim went up on the roof of their chicken house to look at the clouds. Jim realizes a nice side of Antonia. She is thoughtful and kind. Jim and Antonia have a very close relationship. Jim even called her Tony sometimes.

The friendship in “Once Around

Manhattan

”, is between Gina and Soo-Hyung. They were the only girls in their Challenge Club so they have become close friends. Today they were going to go canoeing around

Manhattan

Island

. They were seeing so many pretty landmarks. Then, Gina saw the bridge that she used to play on by her grandma’s house. She wanted to get out so she could look at the bridge a little bit closer. Soo-Hyung stayed behind but had no sighting of Mr. Kravitz (their teacher) or the other people in the club. When Gina came back talking about her good times she had, Soo-Hyung reminded her that they really had to start moving. They started to get really tired but then they found Mr. Kravitz. He asked them if they wanted to quit before it got even harder but they refused. They hit all the waves and almost fell over. Finally, they got back to the starting point.
