LEAD:  Why do you think actors get homeschooled? They don’t need the money! Like Will Smith… he is filthy rich but when he was a child, he was homeschooled. He did that so just incase he decided to stop acting, he could get a job in something he would want to do. Also, school really helped Will Smith know what emotion he should use in the movies and shows he is in. it helped him know why you shouldn’t buy a TV that is more expensive than your house. It helped him learn how to support himself when he moved out of his parent’s house and it helped him know how to raise a son. It helped a famous actor learn even though he didn’t have to. He wanted to so he would be a smart guy… DO you want to be like him???

A less obvious reason is because there is a home and career class you have to take and it helps prepare you for what college to go to for what job, how to take care of yourself in life by cooking and cleaning, it teaches you how to sew buttons or gaps in clothing and more! The electoral college should be banned

The Electoral College Should Be Banned

                     

 

Before I begin I have some questions. Raise your hand if when you’re able to vote you want your vote to count. (Raise your hand.) Raise your hand if you want to be able to choose who you want to run the country in a way that suits you best without somebody choosing for you. (Raise your hand.) Raise your hand if you want to have a true democracy. This is why the electoral college should be banned.

Are There Rules For Police??

    As most of us know, when we break a rule there is a consequence, or a punishment. Adults know that when they are driving they need to be cautious as to not break a law such as speeding. These laws are to keep the community in order so having somebody break it just because they can messes up the whole order of things. This is where my topic comes in. I've seen police break laws that other people would get tickets and fines for, and they did it because they could. For instance some police I've seen put on there siren and make everybody else move to go to Dunkin' Doughnuts. (True story.) In fact this morning a cop passed my mother and I in the car while speeding, and then he ran a red light. This action is illegal, yet nobody does anything about it. So before I leave I have this question for you. Do you think there are rules for police? And if not, do you think there should be? If so, what would they be?

The Wiz

   This year I was in the school play, we preformed “The Wiz”. In the play I was a yellow brick road, as a yellow brick road we danced as Dorothy, the Tin man, the scarecrow, the lion and Toto as they followed the yellow brick road. I was also an Ozian, an Ozian is a citizen of Oz who dances with the wiz and when Dorothy, the tin man, the scarecrow and Toto come to Oz. When I was a yellow brick road I had to wear all yellow and when I was an Ozian I wore all green. The play was really fun to perform, I had friends in the play and it was fun to hang out with them and be in the play with them. We preformed two nights and I think both nights we did a really great job and I didn’t really mess up at all and I knew the dances pretty well. I am excited to be in the play next year and to continue being in plays.

My life

 

Oh My Gosh!!!!! I have had the busiest week of my life this week. This week, Monday, I have school in the morning to afternoon. Then I have ALMS softball practice after school everyday until five o’clock. Then, I have batting practice until six and pitching practice until eight. Tuesday I have school, softball practice until five, Hebrew school until eight forty-five and then pitching until ten. Wednesday I have school and practice, batting practice and Junction Girl practice.     

A Letter To The Editor- Homework

    Teachers should think twice before they assign all the homework that they do. It would facilitate matters for both teachers and students. I mean if you just think about all the extra work it makes on both people. For teachers, you have all this extra work to do with all the grading and what not. Seriously, you have to grade... lets say a hundred worksheets everyday just for the homework. As for the students, we poor children have to go and stay home instead of be vital and have fun outside or with friends to do homework. For every class‼ Then by the time your done, the day is almost over. The next day you just do the same thing over again. So I believe that it would be a better idea to cut down on the homework so that kids can be kids, and teachers can be teachers that don't have to do as much extra work.

    Teachers- As a student I think you know how aggravating homework can be so you definitely know our point of view. But as teachers I don't suppose your job is easy. Yet if you give students less homework it would be much less of a hassle to grade all of the homework (as i mentioned before). Discussions like these have come up in some classes, but in the end teachers will always say something like homework helps you prepare for tests and learn more, and as much as I respect a teachers decision I think that if we got a small quiz maybe once a week covering what we've learned in that past week then theoretically, teachers won't have to give as much homework since a quiz would be covering it. Just a suggestion.

    Other suggestions could consist of the concept of homework. This is to make the students know more about the subject. So if teachers figure out new and improved ways to teach more and make the students know more about the subject then less homework can be a conclusion to that.

A Letter To The Editor

    For my letter to the editor is going to be allowed to chew gum in class. I think we should be able to chew gum in class because a lot of the time people are nervous for tests and for me it facilitates them and makes me less nervous. I think it is a good strategy for me to chew gum during school because a lot of days I am tired, even though I should be going to sleep earlier I just can't so when I chew gum it gets me more awake and more vigilant for the day of school.  Also some kids often forget to eat breakfast and when that happens they get tired, do poorly on tests, and get bedlam. I they have a piece of gum then they will have some flavor in their mouth and have something to chew on until lunch.

     I think that it is a very good idea to be allowed to have gum in school. Another reason why we should have gum in class is because people might misconstrue things on a test or when a person is saying something if they haven't had breakfast or lunch or anything to eat for a while. Also if they get hungry in the middle of class they can have something to chew on to keep them through the day or until lunch without getting so hungry. That is my opinion on why we should be allowed to chew gum in school and I bet that many other students think the same thing. They also might have more ideas on why we should be allowed to chew gum in school. I think that this is an important thing to have in school and it should really get approved. Dear Mr. Editor!!!

Dear ALMS,

    I am writing you to discuss an important issue with the sports teams. I honestly think you are doing a great job with them; how they are run, the sport budget, the amount of students who try out, etc. I do understand your concept (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/concepts) in kicking the children who are failing any classes, off the sport teams, but I would appreciate you reading the rest of this letter. I find it vital (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/vital) that all children think they are able to try out for a sport team. I think that anybody should be able to make a sport team if they are as good as the people on the team. I don't think you should be judged on your grades. I do think you facilitate (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/facilitate) it by giving everybody two chances to raise their grade though. I personally think that if you want to try out for the school team, you shouldn't be denied because of your grade because one thing has absolutely nothing to do with the there. Theoretically (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=theoretical) you could say that sports are time consuming and they take away from studying time. If you really think about it if you are failing, you are probably not spending your free time studying. I think a smart strategy (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/strategies) is to let the child enjoy the sport, make them want to play, tell them they will make the team if they raise their failing grade up to a not failing grade. If you do it that way, the student will want to do better and will study hard to be on that team. That is instead of saying that someone can't try out because of one grade. They might be able to change that grade easily. I really think that makes sense! Don't you?

Being..

    When I am an adult, I don't really know what I want to be. I always thought I wanted to be an actress. But being an actress is hard, and the truth is, it probably isn't likely to happen, and there are plenty of other opportunities out there. I don't want to spend my whole life waiting for my lucky break, because it may never come. I'm not going to give up on that dream, but in this blog, I'm going to talk about becoming a movie director. For being a movie director I know you have to have an imagination. You also need to know what appeals to people. As in their likes, and basically it all comes down to if they will want to see the movie that you wrote ( or made or directed). Here are some other details.

    Some of these things make me a little bit unsure about the job, such as having twenty hour days, and being in charge of everything‼ As in I'd be making the final cut, and make changes, and everything  I do affects the movie, so all the pressure is on me. In other words, NO MISTAKES ALLOWED‼ One of the worst things I heard about this job is (from the article for movie director) "One director surveyed funded his first film entirely on his credit cards." Considering getting movies done is millions of dollars, that could be a problem. Also most film directors go to film schools before they go into the business.  On the bright side, payments range between ten to forty million dollars per film, which I wouldn't mind. (And that's for the average movie directer.)Those are just a few of the facts about film making or directing.

My job when I get older

     I think Jessica Hagy means, when she does the Venn diagram, is that you have to stop and think what your job is right now and then think of how much work you had to do to get there. Then you have to think about where you want to be and think of how much more work you are going to have to do to get there. The career that I want to be when I grow up is a graphic designer because I love to design things and I love to draw so I think that job is good for me to do. I also like to design things for TV so that would be good for me. Both of my parents agree that I should do that job because they both say that I have a really good sense of art and I would be good at designing. The kind of work that you have to do to get there is you have to study art and drawing and things like that. What I can do right now to help me get that job is to take more art classes and learn the technology about the graphics and how to do that. I should go to a good college that specializes in that kind of stuff so that after college I can get a job in the business.

When you get there what you have to know is to make a new design that meets the needs of the client then you have to prepare a sketch of the design and lay it out in front of the client, they pick out the color, the sound, the photos in it, the artwork, the animation, the type of style type, and any other things that they will need to do. They use specialized computers and technology. So that is how it works when you get to that point. I am not saying that that is the job I am going to get, but I am saying that that is the job that I am going to work on and try to get there and work hard at it. I may even not want that job when I am older but for right now that is the job for me!
