In the two passages it talks about the friendships between Gina and Soo-Hyung. In the passage My Antonia it talks about the friendship between Jim and Antonia it talks about how this pairs of friends stay together through thick and thin. Did you ever think about having a friend who would risk everything they had for you and would be there for you no matter what kind of friend you are would you like to care for someone as much as Gina cared for Soo-Hyung and Jim cared for Antonia.
In the passage From Antonia it states that Jim Burden Antonia's friend thought about all of the memories that Antonia and him had shared. In the passage it states that Antonia worked for Jim and his grandmother so Antonia was in their home most of the time. Jim would always remember when Antonia would bend over the pea-vines and bead of perspiration would gather on her upper lip like a moustache. Antonia would always say that she liked to work out-of-doors better then in the house and she would always sing that to Jim. Jim was really happy to have Antonia in the house because she was so gay and responsive and nobody ever minded her heavy, running step or her clattery way with all of the cooking pans. One night there was a beautiful electrical storm and Antonia and Jim had gone on to the top of the chicken house to watch the clouds. Jim had asked Antonia why she had always tried to be like her brother Ambrush and why she didn’t just act like herself. And Antonia said: if i live here, like you, that is different. “If I live here, like you that is different. Things will be easy for you. But they will be hard for us." The friendship between Jim and Antonia is a very strong yet passionate friendship because it is like they have a connection with each other and they also have a lot in common together they have a really big open mind about how much they care about each other. In the passage Once around ManhattanIn conclusion there are a lot of times when friends get into trouble but then again its natural its supposed to happen like that so that you and your friend can make things better, just like in the passage Once around Manhattan. Gina and Soo-Hyung were good friends but they just had their arguments. Just like in the passage My Antonia when Jim asked why Antonia couldn’t just be herself. Everything that happened in this passage has happened for a reason. Just like Gina and Soo-Hyung have saved their friendship and the same thing for Jim and Antonia.
it is a passage about two girls named Gina and Soo-Hyung and in the passage it talks about how the girls got through all of the struggles that they had on the boat ride. In the passage it had stated that Gina and Soo-Hyung were going on a trip because they were a part of the challenge club. Gina and Soo-Hyung had been the only girls doing the challenge. The two girls had worked together really hard to make sure that they completed the task that they were supposed to reach. Gina and Soo-Hyung had spoken about all of their old memories but Gina thought that Soo-Hyung was kind of crazy because she was a Mets fan and Gina was a Yankees fan. Towards the end of the packet Gina had asked Soo-Hyung if the statue of liberty had a name and then Soo-Hyung had said” I know im going to have to name her Gina because she was my only hope back there”. But then Gina had said “Oh no her name is Soo-Hyung, steering us to solid ground”. The girls had their little arguments but they still stuck through it and they didn’t bother but to do what they had to do to complete the challenge. Before the boys of course.

In the short passage My Ántonia the friendship between Jim and Ántonia tell the story. The pair started spending alot of their time together when Ántonis's father died, and she goes to work for Jim's family on the weekends. Jim remembers many times him and Ántonia spent together like when, she would sometimes go with him, and pick early vegetables for dinner. His grandmother would make her wear a sunbonnet, but as soon as they got to the gardens she would throw it on the grass, and let her hair fly in the breeze. One night after an electrical storm Ántonia & Jim climbed on the roof of the chicken house to watch the clouds. They stayed there for a while just watching the skies of lightening, and listening to the thunder together. There relationship is very strong, and stayed that way throught the story.
The story Once Around Manhatten Soo-Hyung and Gina, too, have a strong relationship. They're both athletic, and are the only 2 female members of the Challenge Club. Together with the rest of the Challenge Club they had a goal to canoe around the island of Manhatten. "The Brooklyn Bridge looked awesome in the morning sunlight, and the windows of the downtown Manhatten buildings reflected the golden hues." In this part of the story Gina and Soo-Hyung had stopped padling to look, and neither had to shout to share their thoughts on the beautiful veiw. Only true friends can share a moment like this together. On their journey they shared alot of memories of their past, and exhaustion.

My Antonia & Once Around Manhattan
In the story My Antonia the friendship between Antonia and Jim are strong, and in the story Once around Manhattan the friendship between Gina and Soo-Hyung is also strong. Antonia works for Jim’s family on the weekends therefore, they are together most of the time.
Every day while the dew was still on the grass, she went with Jim to go and pick vegetable in the garden in the morning so that she can cook dinner. Jimmy’s grandmother made Antonia where a bonnet but as soon as she got up there she threw it on the grass and let the wind breeze got threw her hair. She remembers how they bent over the pea-vines, as beads of perspiration used to gather up her lip like a moustache.
Gina and Soo-Hyung also have a very close relationship. They had a goal to accomplish together and that was to paddle around Manhattan Island. They had to paddle around for thirty minutes and they thought it was going to be tough. The only way to do it is with teamwork and do it with an ingoing tide and go out with the outgoing tide. They were only two girls in the challenge. They knew they could handle it together because both of them have athletic training. They both clambered there canoe and started steering. It took an hour for the boats to pass Ellis Island and enter the East River. After a while they stopped paddling to take around. After there mid-morning break the river narrowed and there were fewer sights. The water was polluted and had plastic bottles, soda, wrappers and other garbage. This time they were both silent and they didn’t say anything to each other. When they entered the Harlem River the boys were behind them. Gina saw the Yankee stadium and pointed for Soo-Hyung to look at. But Soo-Hyung said I am a Mets fan. Gina was surprised and said how can you be a Mets fan. Suddenly Gina realized they are about to pass the bridge that they played on when they were smaller at her grandmothers house. They pulled over to the side and took a look around. Finally when they were done looking they realized that they were running late. They found Mr.Kravitz waiting and he told them to quit if they wanted to. But they kept on going on. They were instruted to follow the waves in front of them . Mr.Kravitz told them that the boys arent doing much better anyway. They thought the river was never going to end! But when they saw the statue of liberty the river stopped to flow. And for the rest of the trip they talked to each other eventually finished.

I describe the friendship with Jim and Antonia in My Antonia as joyful, funny, and exciting. Every morning she wakes up she wakes Jim up and goes out in the field and pick out food for breakfast. They like to spend a lot of time together an example is one it was raining they was on top the roof and cornfield.
The story Once Around Manhattan
I would describe the friendship in the story Once Around Manhattan Manhattan
In conclusion these stories are the same because they both hang out with each other a lot. These two story both share memories with each other.

Q6- I disagree with the statement economic differences between friends cause problems ; people from different economic backgrounds can't be friends. I don't believe this statement. If some person is for example Muslim and the other is white. I believe they would get along perfectly fine and they could even be best friends. Also if people from economical different backgrounds and nobody got along with each other things would be very hard to deal with in the future. You would have no experience with different races or different economical views.
Q7- I disagree with the statement popular people can get away with more than less popular people can. I don't believe this is true at all! If somebody is popular it doesn't mean they are necessarily good. And if you are popular but you never know whats going on their inner/personal life. As for the less popular person student can be a nice little girl and does not try to show off as much as the popular can. The popular student can and most likely will reject some people as friends because of their popularity.

As a youngster I have always wanted to be a singer my parents and my family take my singing very seriously. I think that I could relate to the Erik Fisher Dream because every time I am over a family members home my parents want me to sing for them and then they start bragging but sometimes it really gets annoying and I think that my brother sometimes gets jealous that we talk about my future so much. But see the thing is it goes for my brother too because he is a soccer player and my dad wants him to go really far with soccer just like my singing but sometimes it makes me feel left out like they forgot about me thats why I think that I can relate to what goes on in Paul's head when all his parents think about is Erik's big football career. I also have a cousin who has been playing soccer since kindergarten and she loves it and her mom wants her to get scholarships and everything and sometimes its like all they talk about.

Ms.Hill 7 Blue
Vandara is an antagonist in the story Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. Throughout the village "people whispered about her. She was known, and respected. Or feared."(pg 15) She is surely a leader of the village, but the question remains whether she is respected as much as she is feared.
There are many examples of Vandara's interactions with the women of the village illustrating that the women respect or fear her. Kira, an orphan with a twisted leg lives in the village where Vandara is seen as the leader, and the weak people in this village are cast aside. "Kira saw that she was surrounded by hostile women who had come from their cotts and were watching Vandara for instructions and leadership."(pg 17) Kira was about to be stoned to death and was trying to calm the women down so that she could live. "Finally a woman in the group completed words of the rule "the causer-of-death must die."(pg 17). The woman who shouted "the causer-of-death must die" meant that if they stoned Kira and she died then all of the women would have to die too. This was a rule from the Council of Edifice and Vandara and her people abided by this rule.
The women in the village didn't always agree with Vandara's choices. An example of how we known this is when Kira stood up to Vandara because she demanded the other women to build a pen on Kiras mothers land. "Other women emerged from surrounding cotts "we need it," one called. Were going to use the saplings to build a pen for the tykes, it was Vandara's idea." Kira looked at the woman, who was holding the arm of a toddler roughly. "It might be a good idea, Kira replied " If you want to pen your little ones. Not on this piece of land. You can build a pen somewhere else."(pg 15,16) In this passage Kira stood up for what she believed was right and she didn't fear Vandara and what would happen to her.
Vandara is a leader. The kind of leader she is can be seen in her actions and her realtionship to others. Vandara was a feared woman in the village and everyone respected her. Because of her battle with one of the forest creatures she had a ragged scar that started from her chin and continued all the way down her neck to her shoulder. Vandara knew how to defend herself after she defeated the beast. The women in the village all feared Vandara because they knew that if she could defeat one of the beast's then she could hurt anyone. The people of the village all respected Vandara because she was the only survivor of the beast's and everyone felt respected and that they could idolize the fact that shes strong.
